Honorable Immigration Judge:
I am writing this letter in support of Pedro Guzman’s petition for release from custody. I have known Emily Nelson Guzman, Petro’s wife, for over ten years. We first met when she worked for me at the University of Minnesota. We have kept in touch since we both moved on to new careers in different states. Emily has shared information about her life especially her marriage to Pedro and birth of her son, Logan.
Pedro’s young son needs to have his father in his life every day. There are too many children who do not have their fathers in their lives. Our society bears the cost of this lack. As a teacher, I see the personal cost to children who do not have father raising them. As a family man, Pedro has the love and support of this wife, Emily, as well as the support of her extended family.
I believe Pedro will contribute to his community through his hard work and community spirit. He has the qualities every citizen should have to be a productive member of a community. I trust Your Honor will look carefully at this individual’s request to remain in our country with his family and friends.
